Waimak, yellow-tail woolly monkey in Tarangue

Waimak ,yellow- tail woolly monkey in Tarangue

Waimak is a young male yellow- tail woolly monkey, one of the 20 scarcest and most threatened primates in the world.

He was living in the cloud forest at 2000 meters altitude an area now invaded by settlers and illegal loggers. He was getting close to a corn field, when he was hit with a sling shot and then received blows over the head. All his right side was paralysed including his prehensile tail. Our courageous friends Sam and Noga (from Neotropical Primate Conservation) brought him to Ikamaperu in a state of total collapse.

Who are fighting alone to create a reserve for these beautiful and unique monkeys. After 5 months care with a neurologist he has recuperated his spirit and locomotion except his right leg.

Ikamaperu is proud to collaborate with NPC and recommends any support to help them protecting this species.
